The Simpson Strong-Tie DIAB50 is a redesigned, high-performance 1/2" internally threaded drop-in anchor engineered for reliable fastening in concrete ceilings, walls, and floors. This displacement-controlled expansion anchor features improved geometry in the preassembled expansion plug, enabling installation with up to 40% fewer hammer strikes than previous versions — reducing installer fatigue and speeding up the job. Once properly set using the Simpson Strong-Tie DIABST50 hand setting tool or DIABST50-SDS power setting tool (sold separately), the anchor is ready to accept 1/2"-13 UNC threaded rod or bolts. A positive-set marking indicator at the top of the anchor gives installers a clear visual confirmation that the anchor is fully and properly installed — eliminating guesswork and ensuring consistent load capacity. Zinc-plated carbon steel construction provides corrosion resistance for dry interior applications. Widely used for MEP pipe hangers, conduit supports, cable trays, suspended lighting, HVAC equipment, and general overhead concrete fastening. Code listed per ICC-ES ESR-2523 and ESR-2552.
